TFF Legacy Team 2013 - Halfling Chef

I had the honour of getting a copy of the little resin Legacy Team reward Axiom/Exoditejon have had made for the participants of their annual Legacy-Team-event at talkfantasyfootball.org. The Chef and camp fire are sculpted by John Pickford (shouldn't you already have guessed that :))

Painted my copy a few months ago but yet again couldn't make up my mind regarding how to base it. Have about 50 unpainted halflings, and as I like unified bases I had to make a decision. Went for a country field look with long grass and flowers.

And yes, there's a small change made to the camp fire. Originally it was a roast football, but for my fantasy needs a chicken is better :)

And just as I finished this, I found this here in my mail box:

A metal version of this beauty. Apparently, Axiom ended up with an empty slot in one of his Beast Face Miniatures master moulds, and had this made. What better use of an empty slot in a mould can you imagine? I just looooooove metal :)

Collecting John Pickford: Beast Face Minotaur

Rather old new I'm afraid, but don't you go say, that I didn't tell you about it - cause no news, ain't good news :)

Back in October I posted news regarding Beast Face Miniatures upcoming Fantasy Fottball Minotaur for there all Pickford's Beastmen team. And due to plan, the beast was finished by the end of 2013. I just didn't mention it. So sorry, Axiom.

But here it is - and a rather magnificent beast he is, too:

... and a "Mad Painter"

As I'm not well enough for spending hours painting, I've asked friends for help giving the BrushSlaveLeague exclusive Mad Painter a try.

And I wasn't kept waiting for long, as my good friend Jon B (aka Axiom) from Beast Face Miniatures/the Gaming Cantina - has just sent me his photos of his take on the crazy little dwarf .

Collecting John Pickford: 2nd Down and "Goal"

It's has been a bit quite about "Axiom/Exoditejon" (the guy behind the Gaming Cantina event miniatures), and his new Fantasy Football venture Beast Face Miniatures, but the 2nd set seems pretty close now and we can expect an official release of the first sculpted John Pickford Fantasy Football team soon.

Three lovely new Beasts - a three-armed thrower, an unhelmeted lineman, and a helmet/visor and claw-endowed blitzer. Brings the team up to 6 beautiful Beastmen in total.

Just love all the muscular structures and the dynamic poses, I'm really impressed and look forward adding them to my collection.

Not really into Fantasy Football, but shouldn't hold me back, should it? :-D

And speaking of what's in my possession ... :) I've actually already got one of the first set ones. Due to damaging during moulding the set #1 lineman's right hand thumb came loose and turned into a claw, rather than a thumb. "Axiom" have kindly let me have one of these for my collection of "John Pickford Obscurities"  :)
Not only is it a fun little piece to have, but also gave me access to a pre-view of the crisp quality of these fantastic new miniatures. Thanks, Jon :)

Collecting John Pickford: Nothing is to small...

... for an enthusiastic/fanatic Pickford collector, so am very glad/honoured been given this little item you shall now see.

"Axiom", who now runs the Beast Face Miniatures but who is probably still more "know" for his "Gaming Cantina" promo miniatures has put the 40K Eldars aside and is now heavily involved with different Fantasy Football projects, but hasn't given up the event specials :)

This time its a piece for the annual Legacy Team event at the talkfantasyfootball.org (TFF). The Legacy Team is a painting event that have been running for more than 10 years now. Each participant paints up a race specific miniature and then a lottery is held to draw a winner who gets the team. So to give the participants something to remember John Pickford has sculpted him a little Football

The ball is cast in a ivory/sand coloured resin. Only 30 copies were made. Most copies went to the participants and organizers, but there was also a copy left for the fanatic collector, so it can get documented on the wiki.

So here is my copy - given a little wash to show that the mould actually picked up all the fine little details ..

Well, the greens gave a few hits, but here it is next to a (still unpainted) GW Orc Blitzer :)

- so perfect in size :)

Wonder if I can actually paint it up and still save those tiny letters on it??

Collecting John Pickford: Footballing Beastmen by Beast Face Miniatures

Not John's usual genre, but certainly worth a mentioning here.

"Axiom"/"Exoditejon", the guy behind the Gaming Cantina event miniatures (like the Bodyguard Lizard Centaur and Howling Banshee), has started his own little venture into the mysterious Fantasy Football Miniature World. A venture named: Beast Face Miniatures.

The project is still very much WIP, but he has just given a first pre-view of his coming Footballing Beastmen sculpted by John.

These here are the set #1 miniatures and this first set includes a Beastman Thrower, a Blitzer and a Lineman. These three here are the first of a planned set of six. After mastering, these will be basis for a converted set no. 2.

The miniatures are based on some cool artwork/designs by Roberto Cirillo.

It's been quite a while since we last saw John working on some prober beasts, but he certainly not forgotten how to sculpt them - just take a look at the muscular structures and the dynamic poses, I'm so impressed. And the will certainly stand out on most gaming pitches.
